We met through both of our best friends, who were dating at the time. Daniels friend told me one day, I have the perfect guy for you! At the time, I was not interested in finding a boyfriend. But once Brett told me a few days later who it was he had in mind, I knew I was in trouble. I even told my friend that I could fall in love with this guy, He has everything on my “list”. (You know what that list is Carla ;))
So about two weeks after, we all met up in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee- and Daniel and I hit it off instantly.
We were at Daniel’s sister’s baby shower all day, but we had planned a few weeks prior (I am a planner) to decorate the Christmas tree the weekend before Thanksgiving, so Daniel agreed, and said we would make it a date-night-in. So we get home after the baby shower, and Daniel starts cooking (our first meal he ever made me) and I started pulling out all of the Christmas decorations. I kept wanting to start decorating the tree as Daniel was cooking, but he kept insisting that he wanted to decorate it ‘together’ so I waited. He turned on 90’s Christmas music on Pandora, set the table, poured my favorite wine, and served me dinner. I had no idea. He is always so sweet, and cooks dinner, so I had no idea he had anything planned. So after dinner, we start decorating the tree. Since we have been together, when we travel, we like to buy an ornament and write the date on it. So as we were talking about of our trips and the ornaments we had, I placed the last one the the tree. (this is where the slow motion begins…) As I’m placing the last one on the tree, Daniel says behind me- “I do have another ornament that we can have on the tree forever”. I thought (and said)- What? What are you… I turn around and he has an ornament in his shakey hands that says Heather will you marry me (and the date!) After I said SHUT UP! What seems like a million times, Daniel got on his knee and pulled out my ring in a box. I just remember asking him is this real, is this real?? I have never seen him so nervous. He was trembling, I fell on my knee and hugged him and we were both shaking. It was truly the happiest moment of my life to date.
